The essentials in brief

This site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Fonts are loaded from our own server, not from Google. YouTube videos are only loaded when you expressly start them. We only process your email address if you sign up for the Companion Kit.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. When you visit it, Vercel processes technically necessary data such as your IP address, the time and the address requested, in order to deliver the site and protect it from misuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Vercel is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

Audience measurement

We count page views with Umami, software that we run ourselves. Umami sets no cookies, stores no IP addresses and does not recognize you across several days. We only see aggregated figures, such as how often a page was viewed. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Companion Kit and emails

When you sign up, we store your email address, your first name if you choose to give it, the time of your sign-up and of your confirmation, and the IP address used at the time, so that we can prove your consent. You first receive an email with a confirmation link (double opt-in). Only after you confirm do we send you the Companion Kit and, now and then, news about new episodes and books of the Bible Audio Novels.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time, using the unsubscribe link in every email or with a short message to us. We then delete your address; only a blocking note remains, so that you are not contacted again by mistake.

Sign-ups are managed by a program that we run ourselves. It runs on Vercel (see above), the data is stored in a database at Neon Inc. (USA), and the emails are sent by Resend Inc. (USA). We have data processing agreements with both, based on the Standard Contractual Clauses of the European Commission. When emails are sent, we count whether an email was opened and whether a link was clicked, so that we can see what is being read.

YouTube

We embed the trailer using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Until you click “Play trailer”, no connection to YouTube is made. After the click, YouTube, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, loads the video and in doing so receives, among other things, your IP address. The legal basis is the consent you give by clicking (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Links to our YouTube channel are simple links without any data transfer.

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example in the country where you live.
